Core Foundation is a hybrid organization that focuses on social entrepreneurial development and wealth creation in rural and urban areas using entrepreneurial development and resource creation to sustain communities and enable economic development. In March 2015, Core Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises in Zimbabwe towards the facilitation of the development of SMEs through resource mobilization and business linkages. We believe that the best way to unlock human potential is through the power of creative collaboration. That’s why we build partnerships between businesses, NGOs, governments, and individuals everywhere to work faster, leaner, and better; to find solutions that last; and to transform lives and communities from what they are today to what they can be, tomorrow.
Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has been recognized the world over as an effective mechanism to facilitate economic development. For, it is the SME sector, which has the highest capital – employment ratio and affords regional balance in development. It is this sector which provides opportunities for the youth to exhibit their entrepreneurial potential by being ‘job creators’ rather than ‘job seekers’. This assumes paramount importance in a situation when the unemployment levels are on a rise. Further, the latent talents among a large number of technical personnel and others with work experience could be tapped for the larger benefit of the economy. Given the very nature of the SME sector, any efforts to develop the sector could lead to a regionally balanced growth.
